I find myself encountering inspiration for art in other forms of art. With this shoot, I had been listening to R&B artist, Daniel Caesar when I felt a wave of inspiration from his EP and album covers. They are very minimal, but carry so much meaning, in my opinion. I felt really inspired by the tones in the artwork for "Pilgrim's Paradise". The simple earth tone of Daniel's skin combined with the soft light and breezy outfit he wears combined to create a peaceful feeling. Of course, I did not want to completely copy the style, but I really wanted to work with light and skin tones with this shoot. I think Mecca was perfect, because she has beautiful skin as well. For the location, we went to Coolidge Park across from Downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee which had many open spaces for us to play around with light. I think the light is a little more harsh than I'd like. Moving forward, I'm going to try to improve at finding areas with softer light and interpreting those areas as best as I can with my photos. I hope you like this set as much as Mecca and I do! We had a lot of fun making it!
